At BamBuk, we develop and manufacture innovative speciality bikes that fit the people who ride them. Our drive and passion is to create bicycles that combine comfort, safety, riding pleasure and sustainability - for individualists, couples, families and people with special requirements. We combine the proximity and flexibility of a family business with the professionalism and quality of industrial production.
Our goal: Everyone should find a bike that enriches their life situation and gives them new freedom.

Our Philosophy - our Service
At BamBuk, we see ourselves not only as a manufacturer of specialised bicycles, but also as a partner and companion to our customers. We do not develop bicycles for the mass market, but for people with individual needs, special life situations and their very own ideas about mobility. That is why we attach great importance to personal advice, short distances and genuine dialogue. Anyone who comes to us should feel understood, well looked after and competently supported - from the first test ride to long-term shared use.
An essential part of our philosophy is our active BamBuk community. It is much more than a circle of satisfied customers: This is where drivers exchange ideas, give each other tips, report on tours and organise shared experiences. We are convinced that mobility connects people - and this is reflected in our community. This togetherness is so important to us that the experiences of our riders flow directly into the further development of our e-trike tandems. This means that every new model is also shaped to a certain extent by our community.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for interested parties to experience BamBuk up close:
- Test drives on site,
- personal counselling sessions,
- Meetings at trade fairs & events
- or the option of hiring an e-trike tandem from us for a while.
We want everyone to have the chance to experience the special riding experience for themselves - and perhaps become part of the growing BamBuk community.
Because our goal is not just to build bicycles, but to bring people together via the BamBuk e-trike tandem, to open up new perspectives on mobility and to create sustainable enjoyment of cycling.
Well looked after - even after the purchase!
At BamBuk, the journey does not end with the delivery of your e-trike tandem - it really begins there - with your tours and with our service if required. For a safe and comfortable ride in the long term, we recommend regular servicing: Ideally every two years or after about 500 kilometres.
Whether spare parts, retrofits or optional extensions - our team is there for you. Many components can also be retrofitted so that your trike can grow with your needs.

Our Dealer network - there for you worldwide
So that you can experience BamBuk not only with us, but also in your neighbourhood, we are continuously building up a strong, worldwide dealer network. We are already working with around 30 dedicated dealers who will provide you with expert advice on site, enable test drives and provide reliable support when servicing is required. This network is constantly growing because we want everyone to have the opportunity to discover and experience the fascination of a BamBuk e-trike tandem directly in their region.
Our History
Where and how it all began
As is so often the case, our company history began with an idea, or rather a private necessity. When Verena, Franz Benz's wife, had an accident and was no longer able to go on her beloved bike tours as a result of a serious knee injury, Franz Benz looked for a bicycle solution that would allow the two of them to go on bike tours together again. As he couldn't find a really suitable solution on the bicycle market, he developed one himself: a tilt-proof tricycle tandem that could be operated safely and with a clear view by one person, the pilot sitting at the back, if required. And so the first prototype of the tricycle tandem was born.
Franz Benz and Anton Simonov met at work in April 2014. It soon became clear that the two shared two passions - technical developments and cycling. That was the starting signal for a common path...
The founding of BamBuk E-Trikes & Tandems
Anton Simonov tells us: Franz Benz introduced me to the prototype of his three-wheel tandem in 2014 and took me along to the speciality bike trade fair in Germersheim - an important, permanent and supporting community for us to this day. I was immediately just as inspired by the topic of special bikes, e-trikes, tandems & co. as my colleague Franz. No, actually infected. In April 2014, we founded our part-time company BamBuk and continued to develop the tricycle tandem.
The tricycle tandem quickly became an e-trike tandem, as it was then electrically motorised so that it could be ridden for as long as possible in a relaxed manner. We also worked on making it easy to transport. We were and are certain that this special bike is a wonderful and sustainable means of transport for many bike fans. The prototype of the BamBuk e-trike tandem as a touring bike was born.
From prototype to series production
After the first production-ready prototype of the BamBuk e-trike tandem was completed in 2015, the first small series of 16 units followed in 2016 - handmade with great enthusiasm in a small workshop. In 2017, as a young company, we went to market with a small series expanded to 25 units - the demand was there and the feedback was great. What had started out as a solution for private use struck a nerve: a tilt-proof, comfortable tricycle tandem with electric drive - for everyone who wants to be mobile together.
3 bikes - 2 pilots - 1 goal
Then things happened quickly: we sold our first bikes in 2017. By 2018, we already had 25 e-trike tandems. At the start, we were a family team of two couples: Verena Benz organised trade fairs and contacts, Olga Simonova took the photos, Franz Benz and I, Anton Simonov, developed them.
We have grown and expanded from year to year. A team of employees has been added. Today, what was once a garage workshop has become a fully-fledged bicycle manufacturer under the name BamBuk E-Trikes & Tandems and the small series of E-Trike tandems has grown into a fully-fledged model series in series production.
Patented transport solution & conveying
A decisive milestone was reached in October 2018: the BamBuk telescopic system was officially patented (patent no. 10 2016 205 829). This patent-pending design allows the tandem tricycle to be compressed to just 200 cm - ideal for transport and storage. Whether on a special bike carrier on the trailer coupling or in the boot of a spacious vehicle: the BamBuk can be taken along easily and safely - in everyday life and when travelling.
BamBuk E-Trikes & Tandems also received funding from MBG Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg GmbH in 2018 - an important tailwind for further growth.
Model diversity & technical progress
Since then, BamBuk has continued to grow technically - with the clear aim of building the best electric tandem tricycle in its class:
- Initially, motors from Sunstar (2017/2018) and later Schachner (2018) was installed.
- From 2020, the integration of Bafang motors, The new model was supplemented by a new option: the freewheel for the rear passenger, which allowed additional flexibility in shared driving behaviour.
- BamBuk has consistently relied on Bosch technology since 2022 - starting with the Bosch BES2 system and now with the ultra-modern Bosch Smart System Gen. 5.
- The high-quality Rohloff hub gear is standard right from the start - available either mechanically or electronically as an E-14 version.
Step by step, the BamBuk e-trike tandem has developed into an innovative top product in the electric tricycle sector, which has found a firm place in leisure, care, rehabilitation and vanlife.
New workshop - more space for visions
In January 2022, BamBuk moved to a new, much larger workshop. Today, with the support of a dedicated team, customised e-trike tandems are produced here in small series, with a lot of manual work, attention to detail and the constant aim of providing people with a safe, comfortable and shared riding experience.
Rethinking mobility - together on three wheels
Today, BamBuk E-Trikes & Tandems stands for much more than an extraordinary product: it stands for encounters, movement, participation, joie de vivre and freedom - on three wheels. The model range has grown and the target groups have broadened: From active couples in their prime to care facilities and families with children or people with disabilities - the BamBuk e-trike tandem adapts to all needs.
Our journey continues. With a passion for mobility, with new ideas, with even more freedom of movement for everyone who wants to be on the road together. You can look forward to it.
